By the early 1900's gloves had sewn in webs known as "full webs" These webs were sewn directly to the thumb and forefinger and extended to where the thumb and forefinger meet By 1910 1 inch webs start appearing.
The largest improvement ever in glove design happened in 1920, when Bill Doak, a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for a web laced between the first finger and thumb. Doak developed the idea of putting a substantial webbing between the glove's thumb and first finger to form a substantial pre-formed pocket in which to catch the ball. The Rawlings "Bill Doak" model that was first introduced in 1920 was so revolutionary that it remained available until 1953 with only minor modifications. Doak's invention was the ancestor of all modern gloves.

1930's JC Higgins Baseball GloveYou did not mention the model of the glove, and if it had a player endorsement. The bulk of the value of a collectible glove relies on the player that endorsed it. Without one it will have a low collectors value, and rely on vintage baseball glove features, web style etc. Most likely the glove being from the 1930's it is a split finger, and without an endorsement would sell for below $30. Condition is a major factor as well.
A baseball outfielder glove is usually 12 1/2 to 12 3/4 inches from the tip of the index finger to the heel of the glove. A softball outfielder glove is usually 13 1/2 to 14 inches from the tip of the index finger to the heel of the glove. Since a softball is larger than a baseball, a softball glove will be larger than a baseball glove. However, this doesn't mean that you can't use a baseball glove for playing softball. It just means that you will have less margin of error when catching the softball because of the smaller pocket a baseball glove has.
