It is very rare that grading a sports card decreases its value. Grading not only protects the card from possible damages, it also authenticates the originality of the card. BGS and PSA are most trusted sports card grading service provider, and the grade you receive from them will determine if your card is worth more or less.
PSA and Beckett are the two sports card grading companies I trust and believe to be two of the best.
Send it to a grading agency like PSA or Beckett.
All three are reputable. Generally SGC is known for grading a lot of pre-1930s cards, but it's really personal preference. Beckett hasn't graded nearly as many vintage cards but they're growing in that area.
PSA graded cards refer to trading cards that have been evaluated and assigned a grade by the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), a leading grading service. The grading process assesses the card's condition based on factors like centering, corners, edges, and surface quality, resulting in a numerical score on a scale of 1 to 10. Cards with higher grades are generally more valuable due to their better condition and authenticity. Collectors often seek PSA graded cards for investment and collection purposes, as they provide a standardized measure of quality.
Grading a Magic the Gathering card is just a process of evaluating the condition of the cards and assigning a numerical grade according to the result of the evaluation. It is not easy to grade them. You have to check the sharpness of the corners, centering of the printing, coloring, overall appearance, and if the card has any creases, rips, or staining. Beckett Grading Services and PSA Card Grading is the most reliable third party grading service providers.
I own one graded KSA 10, and I don't see how a grade less than that could be given to that card, but then again, a lot of things are objectionable, and some would definitely say that BGS would have given it a 9.5. From what I read, KSA isn't as highly regarded as PSA or Beckett, but I've also read that PSA has been on a slide lately, which I conclude brings KSA close to if not on par with PSA. To answer your question, perhaps it isn't BGS, but KSA is a good grading company.
