Joe Louis has several rookie cards in 1935. One is a South African issue by United Tobacco Co. and the set name is World-Famous Boxers. Joe Louis is the #1 card in the set. This is a hardly seen set and not considered mainstream.

A second and more popular card considered the mainstream rookie is a British issue by J.A. Pattreiouex and the set is called Sporting Events & Stars. The set consists of many different sport players with Joe on the #56 card.

Another less popular card is also from J.A. Pattreiouex and is part of the Sporting Celebrities set #32.

As with all cards condition is everything. Tears, corner wear, stains, bad centering, creases, imprints, etc all conspire to denigrate the value of a card.

Expect to see values range from $20.- $1500. on the Joe Louis rookie depending on the quality of the card. I have personally sold high and low grade versions and seen the marketplace with these values.

There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?
