The Mickey Mantle White base mini bobble head is worth about $1,000.- $1,500. in excellent condition. Mint bobble heads could sell as high as $2,000. The magnet will bring a higher price if the rest of the doll is in excellent plus condition. Add about $150. - $200. with the box for the Mantle and Maris dolls. The mini series of Baseball bobbing heads were issued at the same time as the full sized White base from 1961- 1962. They are literally smaller version of the White base series and measure about 4 1/2" tall. Most of the dolls were equipped with a magnet on the bottom of the base and were often seen adorning the dashboards of cars. This could be one reason why they sell at a high price today. It was a comprehensive set with all the Major league teams plus two individual players- Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. April 17, 1951 the 19 year old Mickey Mantle broke into the big leagues with the New York Yankees wearing uniform number 6. After a bad start Mickey was sent down to the minors. He told his dad he was going to quit, and his father told him to pack his bags to come home. After a second thought to try again Mickey was then called up again to the Yankees, and was then issued number 7 for good. It is possible that Bobby Brown was issue number 6 when Mantle returned, and Mantle took number 7 which was also worn by Bob Cerve, and Cliff Mapes earlier in the 1951 season. Clif Mapes who was trades late in 1951 also had number uniform 3 in 1948, and had to give it up when the Yankees retired the number in honor of Babe Ruth at the end of the year. Mapes is the only Yankee to have worn both Babe Ruth's number 3, and Mickey Mantle's number 7.
