I don't know for certain, but there could be a variety of reasons, such as a lack of interest, not wanting the pressure of being "Bobby Orr's Kid", lack of talent for the game, etc.
Ice Hockey
His Father.
because he loved the game
Bobby Orr's sons have played hockey. I don't know if they still do but obviously they never had the skill or desire of their father to play at any high level.
Brett hulls father Bobby Hull toughed him to play along with his brothers. After one of Bobby's games Bobby and Brett followed by the brothers would play a game.

I didn't know any kids were pros!
Only 1% of the kids who play hockey will ever play in the NHL.
According to the Hockey Canada website there are over 500,000 kids of varying ages registered to play hockey in Canada. Of course, there are many more who play hockey in local areas but don't necessarily register with official organizations. For example, there are several dozen kids in my little town who play on the local rink but are not part of Hockey Canada.
