Newport, Rhode Island, USA, is the undisputed sailing capital of the known world. With Coastlines on the west, south and east, Newport is a maritime city, having hosted 12 of the 33 America's Cup regattas from 1930 to 1983, and current home of the America's Cup Hall of Fame.

Annapolis, Maryland, USA, is also sometimes known as the sailing capital. It holds one of the biggest sailboat shows in the country and world. And while it doesn't host the America Cup Regatta, it is a port for the Volvo Ocean Race.
