The Britannia Splice is a connection between large solid wires. Several inches of each wire's insulation is removed and a ninety degree bend is made about a half inch from each end. The two wires are laid next to each other, with the bent ends separated by several inches. Another smaller wire, the wrapping wire, is wound around the assembly, starting from the center, in such a fashion that some turns go past the bent ends, after the point where the wrapping wire is wrapped on only one wire. The bent ends are then trimmed close.
While not as popular as the Long Tie Western Union joint, if properly made and soldered, the Britannia Splice is a very good splice.
A Britannia splice is a type of rope splice used in sailing to join two ropes together. It is a simple and secure way to create a strong connection between two ropes by intertwining their strands. This type of splice is commonly used in nautical applications where a reliable connection is essential.
An electrical scarfed splice is a method of joining two electrical conductors by overlapping and connecting them with a split bolt connector or compression sleeve. This splice is used in applications where the conductors need to maintain their electrical integrity and mechanical strength.

electrical splice? Good splice will allow current to flow without creating excessive resistance and heat
A splice usually refers to joining wires in some fashion. Someone could refer to a splice as an electrical joint, but term joint might be better applied to an electrical terminal or connection point.

The joining together of two or more conductors in an electric circuit.
You can buy a butt splice kit from the auto parts store, it will consist of different size butt splices and the crimping/stripping pliers. Choose the proper size butt splice, strip a length of insulation off each end of the wire to be joined roughly half the lenght of the butt splice, put the wire in each end of the splice and crimp. Once the connection is made wrap the splice with electrical tape.
No, it is not recommended to put electrical tape around a spliced ground wire. The ground wire should be securely connected using a wire nut or another appropriate connector as specified in electrical codes to ensure a reliable connection and safety.
The electrical code states that any splice in a wire, the insulation over the splice has to be equal to or greater than the insulation on that of the rest of the wire. So what ever type of splice that you use make sure that you insulate it well.
A splice is usually two rope ends joined together to form a longer rope. A Y splice is three rope ends are joined together to form a Y shape. The same can be said for connecting three electrical or component cables.
