Fractional rigged 24' class boat circa 1980s, tweaked more for PHRF than IOR, the J24 saw a LOT of class racing too. The J24 leans towards racing more than cruising, which is to say it's fast and comfortable, but it's not what I'd want in the North Atlantic with a 2-man crew for a month or two.
It's dimensions are designed to allow it to compete favorably in IOR, with a surprisingly low handicap.
The J24 outperformed its bigger brother, the J30 in both sales and race performance. NOT a ULDB, the J24 is trailerable, not too pricey and is a good learning boat.
