GM has it for you. I believe they make it in Mexico, where your caddillac was made. hummer, etc. Gm has been in Mexico since 1935. So im sure they have plenty of dexcool handy.
The factory recommends a 50/50 mix of clean water and Dexcool or similar (the "orange") stuff. This mix will protect the Northstar for up to 5 years. If you ever have used the "green" stuff (e.g. Non Dexcool) then you can go back to the Dexcool, but you'll have to change every two years or so.
A 50/50 mix of distilled water and Dexcool antifreeze.
The answer is no. any regular or universal antifreeze will gum up and ruin your entire cooling system when it is mixed with dexcool. If you want to use any green coolant you will need to drain and flush your your system first.
DEXCOOL OR LONG LIFE,IF ITS NOT PREMIXED BE SUR TO MIX IT,60% COOLANT 40% WATER.
You could in an emergency, but do not mix Dexcool with any other types of coolant.
dexcool its a gm product but you can purchase it from any shopping centre like partsource or can.tire
Because the manufacturer used a red dye instead of a yellow or green dye. Its called Dexcool and it is that cooler so can tell them apart dont mix them, and use dexcool as called for by GM. The coolant is red rather than green because it is not regular antifreeze. This is a special GM coolant known as DEXCOOL. Dexcool is a phosphate and silicate free coolant, coherently making it a more stable and longer lasting product.
All from 1995 to date require dexcool. There are several class action law suits against General Motors in reference to dexcool.
been there done that, i had an 01 , 3.1 same situation, its the upper and lower intake gaskets, its a common problem with these gm models, its blamed on the dexcool antifreeze, u cant mix it with other antifreeze, there is a class action suiet going on now about the dexcool.. i replaced the gaskets but it had already been too hot...had to replace engine.....and used only dexcool, running excellent..
It was built with dexcoolIt was built with dexcool
Dexcool and only Dexcool. It is an all aluminum engine.
YES. Unless you've had the WHOLE SYSTEM flushed and replace it with the green stuff. You CANNOT mix the two, no matter what the jug says.
