the roles of the umpires is to look at what the players are doin and give them a score. so if a batter was running to a base and a feilder thought that he/she got them out it would be up to the umpire covering that area of the pitch to decide wether the batter is still in or not. the umpire also decides wether it is a no-ball or it is a ball and to call out rounder or half a rounder when they are scored. it is up to the team to count up their scores.

They also have to check the saafety on the pitch and check the players kit and the equipment is correct; both before and during a match. There are different types of officials. There are team officals and match officals and they each have different roles and responsibiltes from keeping the team in line to checking that the regulations are in order
