This is a highly subjective question, and it all depends on your point of view and how much exposure you have to the game and the player in particular. In my personal opinion, it is Franck Ribery (French International and Marseilles midfielder).

Although on an international stage, he has earned renown as a great up and coming young player, in England, and to many other countries who have only seen him in the world cup, he is relatively under appreciated. The prime reason for this, perhaps, is that Thierry Henri (French International and famous Arsenal striker) discussed how he thought Ribery should not be allowed to play international football, because he felt many of his own failings on the pitch could be blamed on him. Seeing as Arsenal are one of the predominantly popular teams in Britain, and Henri one of their more famous players, it is easy to see why Ribery is underrated.

I think it is Michael Carrick from Man United cause everyone talkes about Lampard and Gerrard, but Carrick never makes mistakes and he is one of the best passers in the world. He has a great shot as well. He has Ronaldo and Rooney on the team who dominate the match so he sometimes cannot play his best. what does everyone else think?
