The Delian League, often confused with the Dorian League, was formed in 478 BCE by Athens and several other Greek city-states following the Persian Wars. Its primary goal was to continue the fight against Persia and protect Greek interests. The League became a tool for Athenian dominance, with member states contributing ships or money to the common cause. The term "Dorian League" is less commonly recognized in historical texts, as the Delian League is more prominent.
