Any player on the opposing teams defense is allowed to sack the quarterback.
You sack the quarterback or you are sacking the quarterback.
AFAIK, It's a safety, not a sack.
A sack is when the quarterback is tackled behind the line of scrimmage before he can throw a forward pass/lateral. Tackling the quarterback behind the lime of scrimmage on a running play is not considered a sack.
The forward progress of the quarterback, which is usually where a quarterback starts moving backwards.
a sack of a quarterback behind the line of scrimage, that is a sack
Anyone on the field can, usually only the defense does
A sack is when the quarterback is tacked behind the line of scrimmage before he is able to pass the ball.
No, for the player to get credit for a sack he would have to tackle the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. The quarterback would have to be declared down for it to be counted as a sack. If the quarterback is down then there couldn't be a fumble. So therefore there could be no fumble recovery.
When the defense tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage for a loss.
MICHAEL STRAHAN 2001 Season with 22.5 Sacks
When a defensive player tackles a quarterback behind the line of scrimmage as he is trying to throw the football .... that is called a sack.
