That is not true. Its obviously going to depend on what card and the condition but i would bet there is only one and it would have to be an insert or refractor or something to be worth that much. Common card i would say around ten dollars or less.
Actually I/ve seen them go for alot more ungraded (600 Dollars) so I agree partially with you at depends on condition but it is very similar to a upper deck refractor as the reflective card has metal in it. But once he retires it will skyrocket then once again when he make Hall of Fame.
The Roger Maris rookie card was released in 1958 by Topps. The real time pricing for a 1958 Topps Roger Maris #47 Indians Rookie Beckett Vintage Graded BVG 7.5 + Beauty was sold for approximately $999 to $1000 on eBay, whereas, the non graded card sells for 10 times lower pricing. For a legendary player like Roger, it is always a good idea to purchase a graded card.
But, you need to remember that don't just go for any graded card. Check out which company graded the card and what is the condition of the card. The value of any graded card varies per the condition and the actual grade provided by the grading company.
