Lamar knew that Vincent was an impostor and this is finally proven when Vincent has to provide an impromptu urine sample just prior to boarding his flight. When the sample is shown to be "in-valid", Lamar deletes the true test result and now the screen reads "valid". The reason he did this is because Lamar's own son also wanted to be an astronaut like Vincent and admired Vincent. But Lamar's son would have been disqualified because he was an 'in-valid". Lamar admires Vincent, too. Also, Lamar half-jokingly tells Vincent that a naturally, right-handed man does not hold his self with his left hand while urinating. That gave him away early on.
