It's a charcoal pencil used for drawing. I'm an artist, I use it all the time :)
The five pencil method is artist Darrell Tank's method for realistic drawing with graphite pencils.
you love to study alot. you can became a good artist. pick up the pencil and start doing drawing.
Sketch artists will have to be skilled at drawing with pencil. They will be detail oriented, and have pride in what they draw.

A pencil sketch is considered a generally rough graphite pencil drawing, which may have been done fairly quickly.
Any pencil can draw... but, pencils made specifically for drawing, have different darkness (smoothness) grades so we can make different areas light or dark which is difficult with just one pencil...got it?

Drawing something 'freehand' means that the artist did not require assistance from another tool such as a ruler or compass. It also refers to the fact that the artist did not first draw it out in pencil or practice.
I have found 2 pieces of R. Garner as well and can find no answer either. They are pencil drawings of farm equipment from 1968. I found them in St. Thomas and have no idea who this artist is either. Have you found any leads?
