There was only one incident in 2009 where there was a Chevy truck recall. It was the Chevy Silverado.
If you call your local GM dealer with the VIN off of the truck they will check for any open recalls.

There have been some recalls on the 2006 GMC Sierra and 2006 GMC Canyon.
