Who is considered the father of modern tennis?

Real Tennis evolved rather than was invented. It began as a ball game played in the twelfth century and continued to evolve for the next several centuries. It has been suggested the game was first played by monks in cloisters, but there is no evidence of this. The first well known historical figure to play the game, however, was Henry V.

Who made the rules in tennis?

It's hard to say exactly who invented the rules. I know that Major Walter Clopton Wingfield invented tennis in 1873, but it's hard to say if he made the rules. I know he probably made the first ones, but I think people added rules onto the game as it grew more popular.
