He he that is a really difficult question to answer due to the fact that nearly EVERYONE will have a different opinion.

Who would I say is the best martial artist. Well alot of people would say it was Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was one of the first real known martial artist in the western world. So naturally when he was big no one knew much about martials arts at all. The best I think personally is Jet Li.

To conclude this is really a personal opinion question and I would say if you have found a martial artist that you like and if they have impressed you with they're technique than that is the greatest martial artist on earth.

There are many people today who hold fame in competitive standpoints, however the most famous are as follows.

Jackie Chan: Jackie was born in Hong Kong and wanted to star in the Beijing opera house. The Beijing opera is nothing like European opera; it involves lots of Martial Arts, acrobatics, and stunts. When Jackie graduated, it became obsolete, so he went to stunts. Eventually he made grand classics such as Drunken Master,and he moved to America, where he was the first man to introduce a movie genre to the Western World: Martial arts film. He became famous.

Bruce Lee: Was born in America, and studied many martial arts. He was a master of power and created the idea of the 3-inch punch. He trained very hard everyday, and his most notable movie is Enter the Dragon. His most predominate martial art was Wing Chun, and he eventually made his own system of combat called Jeet Kune Do.

Jet Li: In his younger years was a Wu shu champion many times, now he does movies

Tony Jaa: Much much newer than the others listed, and he combines muay thai kick boxing with acrobatics in his films.
