American Navi soldiers

ANS 2. -Karts were invented in the 1950's by guys who just wanted to go racing cheaply. -The first engines were from lawnmowers and small stationery machines. I remember the Clinton and Briggs engines in particular. It didn't take long for people to see the uses of large (98cc) chainsaw motors, and the early McCulloch engines appeared in Karts by 1960. Soon after this in Britain, small motorbike engines, some with transmissions, were on the scene. My first two Karts in 1961 were powered by a small Bultaco with direct drive and a Villiers 198 cc with 3 speed transmission.
