DevinThere are more and more gyms in London offering to teach MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts, but they differ a lot in how they teach it - epecially to beginners. The best ones are those who have separate classes for Thai boxing, Brazilian jiu jitsu and boxing. These are the skills that are commonly held to make up the mixture of martial arts that is MMA. Good gyms will also advise new students to learn one discipline first, before adding in the others, rather than trying to learn all three at once in a class entitled 'MMA'. Experienced students should still look out for gyms that have great instructors in all the difference disciplines, and who can help work on any areas of weakness and put together a great gameplan. London Shootfighters is probably the best known but Carlson Gracie, the Diesel gym and the London Fight Factory are also using their great experience of Brazilian jiu jitsu and Thai boxing to build up their MMA teams. It's worth noting that a lot of where anyone decides to train is down to the location of the gym and the personality of the instructors and the other students.
