Weeeeell...... lyrical is more deep and you can be more free-spirited in it... it's a way to sort of express your emotions in a dance.

Lyrical, you use more of the floor spcae instead of staying on your feet. As you probably notice, watching lyrical dnces, they are not always on thier feet.

What is the difference between classical ballet and lyrical?

Classical Ballet is extremely different to the lyrical. A lyrical is just a slow modern jazz with some ballet steps and feel to it. I do ballet, tap and jazz and have been for 10 yrs, I love the lyrical routines because you get to move, be free and feel the music. Whilst in ballet you do still have to be free and feel the music, your body appears flowing on the outside while everything is locked on the inside. Also, you don't roll around on the floor in ballet.

How is Ballet still used and performed today?

Ballet is still very traditional with a contemporary twist added to it. But ballet is still performed traditionally too. As a dancer I like contemporary ballet best. The basics are still used in contemporary ballet and lyrical dance. Lyrical is a much more modern version of ballet with a little bit more expression.
