The 327 cubic inch Chevrolet's distributor had points and condenser and not an ignition module. If you have an ignition module then you have a HEI distributor that was changed out.

Sometimes. There are two common bolt patterns of Chevy starters, and two common flywheel diameters. Many blocks have both bolt patterns. If the starter bolts up to the block and engages the ring gear without binding, it fits.
1st stroke, intake. 2nd stroke, compression. 3rd stroke, power. 4th stroke, exhaust. The 4 stroke cycle take 2 full revolutions of the crankshaft.
327 Chev smallblock bore is 4.00"/ Stroke is 3.25". Just to compare , a 350 is 4.00"/3.48"
A 307 is a 283 with a 327 crank. You can look up specific dimensions at mortec.com
the biggest difference is obviously the stroke and bore of the engine and the size of the engine

A 327 chevy bored .10 over would be 4.1 bore x 3.25 stroke = 343cubic inches or 5.6 liters
BORE is 3.740 and the stroke is 3.480
Bore 4.250" Stroke 4.00"
The bore would be 4.310" and the stroke is 4.00"

It's a 323.4, it IS NOT A 327, as is often erroneously stated. The 5.3 has a stroke of 3.622" (92mm) and a bore of 3.78' (96mm). The 327 was discontinued around 40 years ago, to the disappointment of Chevy enthusiasts. A 350 Chevy is 5.7 Liters.
If nothing else you can check the stroke. The 283 had a Bore & Stroke of:3.875 in × 3.00 in The 327 had a Bore & Stroke of: 4.000 in × 3.25 in Remove a Spark Plug and check the stroke. There is also a casting number located on the block that can be used to identify the block. Click the link.
