Pashki is, or was, an ancient Egyptian exercise discipline that derives from the worship of the cat goddess Bastet or Pasht. What yoga is to Hinduism and tai chi is to Taoism, so pashki is to the followers of Pasht. Recently interest has grown in pashki due to its inclusion in the YA novel THE CAT KIN by Nick Green. As depicted in the story, pashki enables its young practitioners to develop certain abilities associated with cats, including keener night vision, sharpened hearing and exceptional agility.
The French sport of parkour or free-running is believed by some to have its origins in pashki.
