It's a great place! My husband and I have lived here for 5 years, he works in Baltimore County Md., and commutes with a lot of other residents down to Maryland every day. Our daughter is 3 years old, takes ballet at the Jewish Community Center, is in pre-school at a great little school here in York and I recently decided to go back to college and am very happy with the courses offered at York College of Pennsylvania. We have been happy with the low cost of home ownership and the great public schools, versus living in Maryland closer to my husbands work. We are very much in a suburban community but have three airports in under a 2 hour drive, Harrisburg (30 minutes), BWI (45 minutes) and PHL (about 2 hours), we also enjoy the museums in Baltimore, shopping in Lancaster and staying right here in York for a lot of local culture and shopping downtown in York. Oh York recently got a minor league Baseball team, the York Revolution and we really enjoy getting in the car for a 5 minute drive downtown to catch a game for $5, the facility is really nice and great if you have kids (huge playground!!). Overall this is a great place to live, sure there are some drawbacks to living in a smaller community, as a woman I will admit the malls aren't great and the dining scene is getting better, but still mostly chain restaurants. We are very happy here and can't imagine finding a place where we can live in a new house, great school district and close to major attractions without living in the city and paying a high premium. We are big fans of little York!
