It really depends on the style and the school. People seem to assume that Gong Fu is one martial art, when in fact the hundreds of styles are all completely different Martial Arts. Some are even polaric opposites, like Choy Lay fut in comparison to Wing Chun. There are some styles where I would say yes, they are better, or at least AS good, but only if they are trained correctly and lots of regular sparring is done. Dont be fooled, there are some really badass ones out there. Many styles have lost their way however, and have simply become a heap of ineffective flashy stuff and fail. This is a perfect example of how westerners corrupt things.
