but there is a really big raise if you actually win the fight!

In PRIDE FC, I think the prize money for the champion is 5 million dollars for fighting, an extra 5 million for winning. In the UFC, since the sport grew from the 1990's, when Mark Coleman was the champion, it was 250k for fighting, and an extra for winning, now though, the light heavy and heavyweight champs command 5 million dollar purses total I think, 2.5 for fighting and 2.5 for winning. A dude can win 10 straight title defenses as the MMA champ, and then retire. Or, like Randy Couture did, use the money to start his own gym.
In the video game UFC:2009 Undisputed in the intro for career mode they say they have a 6 figure salary.
*Edit - They get paid no where near as much as boxers though. Anderson Silva, probably the best light heavyweight fighter ever only get 150,000 a year, which is why he is switching to boxing in 2010.
more then someone who works at walmart and less then bill gates
depends on who it is.....bj penn....he probably weighs around 170-175 the night of the fight. most guys will try to cut as much weight as they can.
W = how much Wins the fighter has had in there careerL = how much Lose's the fighter has had in there careerD = how much Draws the fighter has had in there career
Nothing, at least not as a fighter. Amateurs do not get paid for their performance. They would have to get income as an instructor or in another line of work.
preliminary fighters earn as little as $5,000 a fight, main card fighters earn $50,000-$400,000 per fight with up to a $200,000 bonus for a victory. Fighters can also win bonuses for 'fight of the night', 'knockout of the night' and 'submission of the night' which is usualy around $75,000
