Wow, in so many ways. Great Britain was the super power in the world for centuries. They ruled the waves, literally. If it wasn't for the Brits, we Americans would not be here and our country might never have been established. Many colonist were sent here by the crown and some came to escape religious persecution but until the Revolutionary war, we remained loyal to the King. In fact, at least half of the colonist during the war were loyalist but the taxes levied upon us by the crown were exorbitant! The King refused to hear our representatives that we sent to England to negotiate so a rebellion broke out. The rest is history.
Since then, Britain has given us many great talents such as the Beatles who held influence over the world. The music, the look, was all copied and inspired many great musicians. Britain has given us some great comedians, television, movies.
Many of the customs of the English are still practiced today in America. Tea for one thing is still very popular.
In short, Britain has and still does influence us in America and the rest of the globe. Their military is strong and skilled. They have made strides in medicine, fighting terrorism and so much more there is too much to list.
I hope this has given you some idea of the influence that Great Britain has had on the world. This was just the tip of the iceberg.
