I think he has to be at least 8 or 7 to start this because they have to know it is not just about fighting it is also about inner peace and getting to love it and it be a daily thing not just something you do one time a month.

It depends on the school and the maturity level of the student. I have the minimum age set at 7, however, I will take younger if they can participate in a class and not be a hazard to themselves or others. I have had 4 year olds with better focus and attention spans than 12 year olds. If I hear of anyone fighting outside of class, they are going to be suspended.
