It is a tricky move I'll admit. You have to bend your arms and put your palms on the ground above your head, bend your knees and bring them to your chest. Then thrust your legs up and out while pushing off with your hands. Arch your back as you launch and snap upright when your feet hit the ground. The trick is using enough force with both arms and legs together. Practice makes perfect!

The kip-up is a very hard maneuver to make; not only does it require a lot of strength and skill, but it requires a lot of energy and is therefore rarely used in a real fight.

Springing from the ground while lying on your back is accomplished by the following: Place both hands on the ground just above your shoulders (left hand above the left shoulder and right hand above the right shoulder). The elbows should be pointed to the sky. Your hands will remain in this position until you have become airborne. Raise both knees to the chest while shifting your weight onto your shoulders. Simultaneously bridge your back while thrusting your hips skyward, and driving your toes back toward the ground. Your hands stay anchored into the ground and are generally used only for support until the momentum created by the whipping action of your hips and feet are complete then they too will swing forward. If you are lacking in flexibility spread your feet wide on the landing. Some people also find that keeping their feet closer to their hips while drawing up the knees helps. This movement will take practice due to the body mechanics involved. To increase your flexibility for this movement try the gymnastics bridge.

If I think I understand what your asking, but I call them roll back spring ups, or just spring ups. I know there is a legitimate name for it though I saw it on YouTube once, I believe it starts with a "k"

Is jump roping an ancient Chinese game?

It's unclear when jump roping began. According to the jump rope institue "The first concrete evidence of jump rope activity can be seen in medieval paintings where children roll hoops and jump rope down the cobblestone streets of Europe. Although, the exact origin of jump rope activity is unclear. Some date jump roping to ancient China; however, the Western versions probably originated from 1600 A.D. Egypt. What is known is that jump roping, in some form or another, spread through Europe to the Netherlands, and eventually to North America." While it likely dates back to china no one is positive about this.

What explains why the earth does not move toward you when you jump in the air?

The Earth has a greater mass than you do. It certainly moves towards you, but much less than you do. This can be explained by Conservation of Momentum, or equivalently, by Newton's Second Laws and Newton's Third Law. (By the Second Law, Earth's force on you is the same as your force on the Earth. By the Third Law, the effect on a larger mass, of the same force, is less.) Technically, as you jump up, the Earth is pushed down; as you come down, the Earth moves up (and meets you). But you weight little and the Earth weighs much more -- so don't expect to see any movement. Besides the Earth is less of a whole than you are. For instance, in a canoe, you jump out to the right. The canoe (and some water -- read "and some of the Earth") move to the left.

What subatomic particle produces light?

Electrons can produce light when they are "excited," and jump outside their ground state, then hop back, releasing a photon of light.
