What vacuum related part needs to be replaced on a 1998 Chevy Blazer makes you reset from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel then back again to 2 wheel drive?

I am trying to figure this out myself. I have a 96 Chevy S-10 Blazer and I believe it is the vacuum acuator located under the battery box in the engine compartment.

Why would the back window on a 1996 Chevy Blazer not open when you push the button to open the hatch?

The blazer must be in park for the rear hatch button to work. If you have the blazer in drive the button will not open the hatch unless it is in park!!! If there is still a problem maybe try checking the fuses! The actuator could be broken in the rear that releases the window so you can open the back. This happened to my 2003 Blazer and my neighbor's 2002 Blazer. By removing the back panel (high likelyhood the panel will break when you remove it) and replacing the actuator that could solve your problem. Both I and my neighbor would have had to order the whole actuator in order to replace the tiny plastic piece that broke. Instead we drilled a whole and rigged it with some tough wire. Works now but we both have broken back panels...even the dealership broke one. Good luck. SEE RELATED LINK for 1997 Blazer

Everytime the 4 wheel drive is put on it blows a fuse and the 4 wheel drive and the dome light will not work what is causing this?

I have exactly the same problem on my 88 Chevy 1/2 ton CK. The first place I want to look is the front axle actuator but I don't know where it is.

1996 Chevy Blazer transfer case?

A 1996 Chevy Blazer Does have a transfer case IF it is equipped with 4 wheel drive

How do you drop a oil pan on a 4.3 01 blazer?

drive a 4.3 01 blazer underneath the eaves of a tall building, climb to the top until you are directly over your car with an oil pan grip the oil pan between your fingers until you feel the urge to let go then let do the rest and voila you dropped an oil pan on a blazer.

4x4 not working on a Chevrolet s10 blazer?

Could be the vacuum actuator, or it could be an electronic fault, if you have an electronically controlled transfer case or an all wheel drive vehicle.

Blazer will not go into 4 wheel drive?

What year is your blazer? Most common cause for it to not go into 4x4 is the vacuum actuator. The actuator is run by vacuum from the transfer case. The vacuum compresses the rubber diaphragm which pulls a cable on the front differential to lock it in. The rubber diaphragm is prone to break down and if there are holes or tears in the rubber it will only suck air and not have the amount of vacuum needed to pull the actuator cable. This actuator is commonly mounted under the battery tray. Easy to remove and inspect. 1998 blazer There is a vacuum switch on the transfer case that usually goes bad. I have replaced mine 3 times. Factory lasted until 225,000 miles and had to replace the aftermarket 2x since, one only lasted a year.

Can i see a Exploded view 02 blazer 4 wheel drive actuator?

Why wont your 2001 Chevy Blazer kick into 4-wheel drive you can hear it switch over the but the light just blinks on the dash and wont lock in to any four wheel drive?

It will either be the vacuum solenoid (actuator) located under the battery tray or the electronic solenoid on the front differential. Most commonly it is the vacuum solenoid (actuator). Once you take the battery and battery tray out you will see the rubber bladder of the vacuum solenoid (actuator) if it is torn or busted replace it. Check the vacuum solenoid (actuator) located under the battery and battery tray. It could also be the vacuum solenoid located on the firewall above the distributor (approx. 3"x1")

1999 Chevy blazer where is 4 wheel drive actuator located?

under the battery plate

Where does the 4 wheel drive actuator vacuum hose run from that connects to the vacuum?

On a Dodge Ram, it runs from the intake manifold, to the switch on the transfer case, to the front axle shift actuator.

Why won't 4 wheel drive engage on 94 jimmy Push button and hear clicking sound behind glovebox?

On 93 S10 Blazer. (things to check)(may/may not be similar to 94) -front axle cable (make sure it moves freely) -vacuum actuator (possibly underneath the battery tray, check it holds vacuum) -4 wheel drive switch (on front axle, check the ball valve on it) -4 wheel drive vacuum switch (on transfer case, ball valve and vacuum) Mine turned out to be a bad axle cable, but it is very common for the vacuum actuator to leak vacuum, thus not engaging the system. There may also be a fuse/relay for 4 wheel drive to check.

Why is there transmission fluid in the actuator for the four wheel drive causing it to tear the rubber boot on a 95 blazer?

because your transfer case switch is letting it come through the vacuum line to your actuator needs to be replaced and lines cleaned out. but while your at it take the top plug out of the transfer case and see if a bunch of oil runs out as this can cause the vac line to fill up. if a bunch of oil comes out the seal between the trans and transfer case has gone south and needs to be replaced but if the oil level is fine in the tc change the tc switch change the actuator and clean out the vacuum lines and all should be good.

Why is your four wheel drive not working in your 1985 Toyota pickup?

Differentials were locked by vacuum pressure on a actuator on the front axle, if there is a problem with this actuator or with your vacuum system the front axle will not engage. You may want to remove the acy=tuator and clean it out, ot locate the vacuum leak in your system.

Why does my 1994 Chevy s10 blazer shift into 4 wheel drive low but not into 4 wheel drive high?

four wheel drive actuator less then $50 online at http://www.autozone.com. the four wheel drive actuator is basically an electronic hub locking system. replacing this part should fix 'er up! p.s. i have a '94 s10 blazer vortec v6 same problem and it worked!

1993 blazer the electronic switch for 4 4 indicates its in 4-wheel but its not is this a vacuum issue or should i be looking somewhere else?

I think I answered this question a couple of weeks ago although it was worded differently. I just had the problem you describe and it was caused by a leaking vacuum actuator on my front axle. The actuator is located under the battery box which has to be removed to get to the actuator. The job took the shop I took mine to about a half an hour. You might have a bad or disconnected hose to the actuator, this would be the place to start troubleshooting your lack of four wheel drive, other options take more expertise and shold be left to a professional transmission shop.

How do you fix 4-wheel drive switch under battery in an s-10 blazer?

Inspect the vacuum line that feeds it. There is a good chance the vacuum line is damaged.
