On March 5th, 1770, a group of boys threw snow balls to tease British soldiers who were stationed in Boston. As the crowd grew and became more high-spirited, the soldiers fired into the crowd of people and killed 5 Americans.

British troops had been stationed in Boston to enforce unpopular Parliamentary legislation. A mob formed around some British soldiers, and in response, they fired into the crowd, instantly killing 3 people and wounding others. 2 more people died later of wounds sustained in the incident.
