manual transmission , with no clutch pedal .
The steptronic system is a type of transmission that BMW uses. This system allows you to drive your car as a manual or an automatic.
BMW's 135i, 335i, 535i, and Z4 sdrive35i are all 6 cyl turbocharged cars available with steptronic transmissions. The new 2010 Taurus SHO comes with a turbocharged V6 and a steptronic transmission. The Mitsubishi EVO is a 4cyl turbo available with a clutchless manual (not a true automatic, but still lacking a clutch pedal). The Porsche 911 Turbo and Bugatti Veyron also use clutchless manuals.

I cannot find it either. have you found it? the location seems to be more hidden on the all wheel drive models...
I own a M30 from what I understand it has a Steptronic Transmission which means that to shift gears you have to do it yourself with the gas pedal I found that best time to shift gears was around 3500 rpm's at that pt I release the gas and then wait for it to go down to about 1500 rpms or so and then reapply my ft and repeat... like a stick shift on training wheels I assume... If I am wrong will someone please correct me..
On the selector lever, there will be another bar to the left of Drive. There will also be a M/S with a + above and - below to indicate shifting. http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/294160/8138-BMW-X3-SILVER-STEPTRONIC.jpg
Converting a manual transmission to automatic transmission is not possible but you can replace a manual transmission to an automativ transmission . That is also an expensive deal.
What transmission does it have?
Coolant should not be leaking from your transmission the only fluid in your transmission is transmission fluid. A faulty transmission seal can allow transmission fluid to leak out.
An autimatic transmission will have a 4 speed transmission and a manual transmission will have a 5 speed transmission.
Transmission Coolers extend the life of your transmission.
