The design of the struts and hinges for the CTS was revised so weak struts must be repaired by replacing the left and right hinges and the respective struts with new units. The new strut part numbers are 15911948 and the hinge part numbers are 1580030 and 1580031. The hinges will be painted gray so if you want them to match the original paint they will have to be painted first. The struts will easily snap into the hinges so the strut -hinge assembly can then be bolted as a unit to the trunk lid. Have an assistant hold the trunk lid open and and prevent it from shifting while you unbolt the old strut-hinge assembly and install the new assembly on one side. Then repeat the process on the other side.
