Chris Chelios, currently of the Atlanta Thrashers was drafted in 1981 and has played in the NHL since 1983. He is 48 years old.
Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1981, Chelios played with the team from 1984 to 1990. He helped the Canadiens win their 23rd Stanley Cup in franchise history in 1986. Chelios was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1990 and remained there for over eight seasons without reaching ultimate playoff success. The Blackhawks traded Chelios to the Detroit Red Wings late in the 1998-99 season. Since that time, the Wings have won Stanley Cups in 2002 and 2008.

Chelios has been playing in the NHL since 1983-84, and is currently playing for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. He is 4th all-time in games played and is the 10th-highest scoring blue-liner ever. His best season came in 1988-89 when he totaled 15-58-73 in 80 games. He is one of the NHL's all-time nastiest players, as he has accumulated 2,891 penalty minutes (12th on the all-time list.) Chelios is a 5-time first team all-star, a two-time second-teamer, played in 11 all-star games and has won 3 Norris Trophies. He is also a 3-time Stanley Cup-winner and has played for the US at 12 international events, including three Canada Cups and four Olympics.
