Almost all barrels are made with a slight overbore. Too much overboring will cause the paintball to lack power.

Two piece barrels allow you to change the diameter of the bore, which lets you fit the paintball better, leading to more accuracy.

What is the most accurate Tippmann A-5 paintball barrel for the price and length of the barrel?

This depends on you budget, quality of paint and what job you need done. If you are close range, the stock barrel is fine. if you need long range, get an apex or flatline barrel, if you want maximum accuracy, you need a two piece barrel and paint that fits the bore perfectly.

Why is rifling present in the bore of the barrel?

The rifling is there to spin the bullet, which gives greater accuracy.

What caliber is a paintball?

Very much so. Paintball guns come in .43 .50 and .68 caliber, none of which can be used in place of the other. .50 and .43 caliber has been shown many times to be inferior to the common .68 caliber however. The size/mass/volume/and ballistic coefficient of the .43/50 cal are not able to match the performance that the .68cal is able to produce currently. Also within the .68 caliber range there are differently manufactured paintballs averaging about .685 but usually range +/- .015. This paint bore, and its matching to the barrel bore is the most important factor in accuracy: If a ball is smaller than the insides of a barrel (barrel bore) the ball may bounce around inside the barrel as it travels. This will cause in-accuracy. However a ball that is bigger than the barrel bore may break inside the barrel from the friction. It is common belief that finding the proper fit between paint and barrel (paint to barrel match) makes for the best effect.

Why do we rifle a rifle barrel?

The bore is rifled so as to put a spin on the bullet. This spinning gives a greater accuracy to the bullet, especially over that of a smooth bore.

What would be the best paintball barrel and marker for sniping?

All guns shoot the same FPS, therefore have the same range. The only exeption to this is barrels that causes backspin like a flatline or APEX but this slows the paintball down faster and reduces the chance of the paintball actually breaking as well as decreasing accuracy as spin increases. The best barrel is a barrel that fits your paint perfectly, but since paintballs are imperfect you need to get as close as possible. Choose a barrel that has bore inserts so that you can match it to your paint or under/overbore if you prefer. your barrel is most accurate at around 14 inches, and unless you have a bipod, are in prone and will take careful aim for EACH shot a 20 inch barrel wont do you any good.

Can you shoot a non-rifled slug through a smooth-bore barrel and maintain decent accuracy and grouping at 25 yards or more?

NOPE. with out rifling, be it barrel or slug itself, there would be no spin on the slug. You would have minimal accuracy.
