Best Answer

Mets' General Manager Omar Minaya has announced that he informed Carlos Delgado that the Mets will pick up his option for 2009. The Mets can either pay Carlos Delgado $12 million for 2009 or buy him out for $4 million. In June, it was obvious to most fans that the Mets were going to buy out Delgado's option. However Carlos Delgado made a remarkable comeback in the second half. The Mets have until 5 days after the World Series to exercise the option, which Minaya now says is just a formality.
