The Olympics are typically chosen based on the host country's ability to be able to support an international competition like the Olympics. If Athens, Greece and Beijing, China have been selected as viable places, there is no reason on its face why Israel should not be chosen given that Israel can financially manage all of the preparations requisite to create an Olympic village.

However, given that many countries in the Olympics would boycott any competition held in Israel and would vote against Israel in the voting process, it is highly unlikely that Israel will ever host the Olympics. Additionally, it would seem much harder for Israel to guarantee the safety of the athletes given the near-constant conflict with Hamas.
