The positions are actually counter clockwise. Starting at the servers position at 1. Then right front is 2, middle front is 3, left front is 4, back left is 5, and middle back is 6.
When rotating in volleyball, you rotate clockwise into each of the six positions.

In Volleyball, you typically rotate clockwise- so if you were in the serving position (back right), the you'd move to the center back position. Where you stand exactly depends on the system of court placement you're running.
