It's partly because of the way Safeco is designed, but largely because of Seattle's climate. Except for Coors Field - where balls carry forever in the thin air - any hitter-friendly park is in a city that has either cool, dry air or hot, humid air. Seattle's air is either hot and dry or cool and humid - which is murder on distance.
