Like almost all sports, Baseball is competitive. Professional players compete not only to win games but to receive high pay. Some fall pray to the idea that the end justifies the means and take performance enhancing drug to improve their standing in the competition.
The money they get paid with, usually comes from the club they play with.
There was more leniency on PED's (performance enhancing drugs, a.k.a. steroids), and many baseball players chewed tobacco, but there was still a huge love of the game.
Professional sports team force players to take urine drug tests to avoid cheating by using performance enhancing drugs. Steroid use is a common problem among pro athletes in competitive sports.
You bet they don't. Just like in any other sport, you can not use performance enhancing drugs.
National Association of Professional Base Ball Players ended in 1875.

Most people i know say that baseball players chew tobacco or something like that, but as a baseball player myself i think its not true because if they do they would come out positive in the drug tests. When i play i ither chew gum or eat flower seeds, but i keep away from tobacco. The MLB does not test for tobacco....it's legal and non-performance enhancing.
