They do it when riding Western style too, but the bulkiness of the saddle makes it harder!

They post because the horse has an uncomfortable trot, and on some horses it's far easier to let the natural bounce send you up and out of the saddle than to sit it out.

Is there an Australian way of riding a horse?

No, but there is an English way. Australians ride in either style.

How many types of horse back riding are there?

The two main styles are western, a more relaxed style used for long use on horseback, and English style which is more for show, and has a more proper style. However, there is also the Spanish style in which the horse and the rider do many tricks.

What eqitment horses need?

Technically to ride a horse, you dont need any equipment, if you understand your horse, and have a good bond. But most people use a saddle, the piece of equipment you sit on, either English style, Western, or Australian; and a bridle, which controls the horse's head.

What is a Form of trotting or running at a slow or leisurely pace?

the gaits of a non gaited horse include 4 major, and all together 7, including English style gaits, and western style gaits. the major ones are walk, trot, canter, gallop. the picky ones are (from slowest to fastest) walk, jog[western], sitting trot[in between kinda bumpy, but not bad], posting trot, lope[western], canter[English or all round], and gallop. usuall in a western style like western pleasure u wouldn't gallop, but u would do a very slow (depending on the horse), very comfortable (again depending) jog. so i guess ur answer is called a jog. any non-gaited horse can do it.

When riding English style what should the rider do when their horse is trotting?

POST A:You can do posting trot, which means whenever the outside leg(leg closest to wall or fence) goes up you stand up so there is about the size of and egg or bigger in between your butt and the saddle. and when it goes down you come down. it will make more sence when your on the horse. another way is sittingtrot where you sit like you butt is glued to the saddle.another way is standing it helps you get balanced and helps your heals stay down in the sturup.

What bridle is best for your horse?

It depends on your horse. If you ride an English horse, definitely an English style bridle. You might be wondering about the type of bit; most horses start with a regular or egg-butt snaffle. If you are looking for a certain brand, I would recommend Edgewood. They're expensive but last a very long time if taken care of. If you ride a Western horse, definitely a Western style bridle. I don't do a lot of Western, so I wouldn't know.

How do you tack up an English horse?

To tack up a horse english style (if this is what you mean?) first (after you brush them off) you put on the square pad. Then, you put on the white pad (sometimes called a fluffy pad) then, the saddle. Then you put on the girth and then the bridle and your all done :)

What breed of horse do people use for horse racing?

Depending on the type of racing (there are many), for the jockey style (regular horse) races the Thoroughbred is normally used, but Araians are also seen. I disagree with that! My family has a big part in what you call "Jockey Style"! Arabians are not used because what you call "Jockey Style" It is actually Thoroughbred Racing and only accepts Thoroughbreds! ***I don't care how large a part your family plays in "Jockey Style." Though it isn't as well known, it is a fact that Arabians race, right here in the united states. Check out www.arabianracing.org among others. And it isn't surprising that we race Arabians either, since the entire Thoroughbred breed is descended from 3 Arabian stallions and English mares. Arabians are the "original" race horse.***
