People like dogs for various reasons. Some like dogs because they provide companionship and unconditional love. Others cling to dogs because they are unable to foster meaningful relationships with other people. Others like dogs because they can control them and it gives them a sense of power. The reasons that people love dogs are as numerous as there are dog owners.

They are loyal until the end.
When you're sad, somehow they know it and try to cheer you up.
There are so many kinds, to match every different person's personality.
There's just something a dog has that no other animal has that makes us smile. Maybe it's the wagging tail, or the big smile they have. Maybe it's just that cute little thing about how a puppy rolls around on the floor and an old dog like to take naps with you. There really isn't any other kind of animal to take a dog's place.
