it allows greater movement for the goalie... when you are flying through the air, it is best to be as light as possible. anyway, goalies dont run the risk of getting clocked in the shin very often, so it is kind of pointless. if goalies are going to get injured, its going to be the result of a collision or dive.
They don't have to, Iker Casillas (Real Madrid goalie) at times doesn't. Since goalies sweat as well, when having to stop incoming balls they probably don't want the ball slip by their arms do to the sweat. That's my idea just by taking a second to think about it. Hope this helps.
a tad obvious tbh, so they don't get hurt or killed lol
It's to keep them from getting hurt in the game. The reinforced materials keep them from being hurt when they're shot at or runover.
Box lacrosse goalies do wear leg pads made of hard plastic material like a big shin guards, in field lacrosse goalies can only wear soccer style shin guards
No, there is no need for a goalkeeper to wear a cup.
All Purpose knee pads
Wear Knee Pads.

Goalies don't have to wear arm pads because they don't need to (unless the league u play in requires them, but that is rare) and the pads limit they're range of motion. But really the goalie himself makes the decision as to wear them or not and some like and some dislike.
No, you can wear knee pads that go on your knees to help with digging.
They wear knee pads when they practice. They also wear knee socks.
They wear many.... you have your basic shoulder pads, knee pads, hip pads, thigh pads tail bone pads and your cup.
