Your core supports you when you run, and having a strong core will keep you going when you're tired. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is very important to have good core strength, it'll help your body be used to running for a long time without any breaks. Especially since in cross-country you have run on hills, in mud, gravel, rivers, and anything really. Cross-country isn't like track and has just one type of ground. Which means you need a lot more strength in certain areas.
Runners should have a strong core, but running helps the core alone. If you to build it up more I recommend not every day but every other day
Golf. Conversely, a sport which exerts a lot of force on your core muscles is Cross Country. It doesn't look the part but when you start running long distances you'll realise that you need to contract your core muscles all the time or you won't be able to sustain the pace.
WHAT
You can measure strength in your middle body by working your core, which is the middle of your body. By building strength in the core, you will be more stabilized.
