ive honestly never heard that pointe dancers destroy there pointe shoes...

on purpose

They don't destroy their pointe shoes. They tear of the satin to the tips so they don't slip and they make cut or peel the inside sole. This allows the shoes to break in the way the dancers want.

Pointe shoes (aka toe shoes) are shoes that we ballerinas wear to enhance our performance. Contrary to popular opinion, Pointe shoes are not made out of wood, but of paper mache. Why do ballerinas wear pointe shoes?

Pointe shoes is when a ballerina's foot is strong enough to wear them, they wear them to advance in ballet and to have the part of lifting off the ground as of being closest to flying. Not all ballerinas wear pointe shoes; some wear slippers (demi-pointe shoes), either because they are not strong enough, or because they have high of arches on their feet so it would not be safe for them. With hard work and practice a ballerina's foot can become strong enough at a time when they can go on pointe

Why is ballet dancer able to rotate on her toes?

ballet dancers enable themselves to rotate or 'pirouette' on her toes by the use of very helpful pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are made of a soft material at the heel, but at the 'vamp' (where your toes begin) a slight wooden material is used to make a flat surface on the box or shank of the shoe. This is why ballerinas can rise 'en pointe' as we dancers say

Can male ballet dancers wear female dancewear?

If you are talking about pointe shoes than, yes some men do wear them.I assume you mean "toe shoes." "Pointe shoes." And yes. As for the official female costumes... well, sometimes the men do drag and dance the full-blown ballerina roles. The men walk a mile in their Pointe shoes. Some women find it touching, flattering. Some ballerinas worry the men are making them obsolete. Really! But... yes, this does happen.

Did Anna Pavlova have much to do with inventing pointe shoes for classical ballet?

Fanny Bias was the first "recorded" ballerina to wear pointe shoes in Charles-Louis Didelot's ballet titled Flore et Zephire. Marie Taglioni then went on to make pointe a norm for all ballerinas. Her ballet shoes were flat shoes with a leather pointed toe. Anna Pavlova didn't actually invent the pointe shoe but she did add the leather sole to it to support her high arch. She is credited for making what is most similar to today's modern pointe shoe. I think at one time of her life she wore Capezios... not sure though.

What is Pointe?

Pointe is part of ballet. When you get your ankles and legs strong enough your instructor with put you on pointe. If you are on pointe you wear pointe shoes special shoes that are made of satin and help suppoet your foot when you are on your toes.

Can you do pointe with demi pointe shoes?

It is physically possible...BUT... do not do it. It can break toes, feet, and possibly mess up tendens and muscles in the process. It also hurts. If you want to go onto pointe then you need to buy a real pair of pointe shoes. They are usually cheaper online. NO! DO NOT TRY THIS! This can break your feet. Demi pointe shoes are for demi pointe. Pointe shoes are for pointe. ANSWER 2 Hi, Demi-pointe shoes are used so that you can experience the sensations of pointe shoes without going on pointe. THEY ARE NOT FOR GOING ON POINTE IN! If you are only wearing demi-pointe shoes then your instructor obviously does not feel you ankles are strong enough for pointe work yet. If you do this then you face the chance of never being able to go on pointe because you have damaged you feet. So stick to demi pointe shoes for demi pointe and wait a while until your ankles are strong enough to go on pointe! PS you should never go on pointe before you are 12 as research has shown that the joints etc. in your feet have not fully developed!

Do pointe shoes need to be broken in or can you buy prebroken in shoes such as gaynor minden for comfort and durability?

No, you need to break in your pointe shoes yourself. Anaheim Ballet offers a video on breaking in pointe shoes. Just type Anaheim Ballet The Point, or just type in breaking in pointe shoes and videos should pop up based on that. Shutting your pointe shoes in a door helps. Good luck!
