Why do England Scotland Northern Ireland and Wales not have separate olympic teams as they are individual countries who participate in the World Cup and Commenwealth Games separately?

I believe it has something to do with the fact that they are part of the allegiance known as the United Kingdom, but yet they are still separate nations so i don't believe it is right being from Scottish descent i believe they should have their own Olympic team and be able to earn Olympic medals for Scotland and not Britain
