As part of Russia is in Europe, it competes in many European-based competitions in sports and other things. They qualified as one of the 24 nations that have reached the Euro 2016 finals, so they are playing in it. Along with other countries, they participated in qualifying groups and were successful in making the finals. Europe has more than 50 countries, so many of them have failed to qualify. The next finals will be in 2020, as they are held every 4 years, and starting in late 2018, teams will begin the process of trying to qualify for Euro 2020.
