Twenty20 Cricket World Cup 2007 stretched on from 11th September to 24th September, with India winning the championship, after defeating Pakistan by 5 runs (in Johannesburg). Just like the inaugural event had, all the tournaments of the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup will comprise of 12 teams, which will include all the Test-playing nations. Right now, it is expected that the world cup will held around every two years.

The only century scored in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 tournament was scored by West Indian Chris Gayle. He became the first person to score a century in an official Twenty20 International match, and hit the most sixes in such a match, with a total of ten. The first-wicket partnership between Gayle and his batting partner Devon Smith was a record-breaking 145, the highest in Twenty20 International cricket. In spite of these three astonishing feats, the West Indies still lost the match with 2.2 overs to spare - though Gayle was given the Man of the Match award.
Sanath Jayasuriya(SriLanka) scored 50 off 17 balls against Pakistan in 1996 which is the fastest 50 in limited overs cricket. If you also consider Twenty20 Internationals (which is indeed a form of Limited overs cricket), the record is currently held by Yuvraj Singh (India), who scored a memorable 50 off just 12 balls against England in 2007 during the Twenty20 World Cup.
