SHR and TBR formed an alliance on January 31, 2012 which gave Patrick a starting spot for the Daytona 500.This was made possible due to the fact that TBR driver Dave Blaney finished 33rd in owner's points in 2011. The points that Blaney earned in the #36 car was given to Patrick's #10 car for the first race. Nascar teams are allowed to transfer or sell the points to another team.
